What will it take to develop new models for teacher education?

Given the challenges most school systems face in developing a pipeline of highly effective teachers, many reformers are re-examining the role of higher ed in developing new candidates for the field. Join us to learn about one such effort,  the Relay Graduate School of Education (RGSE).

DISCUSSION EVENT:

Relay 101: Building a Graduate School of Education

Join Mayme Hostetter (HGSE alum) and Thackston Lundy (HKS alum), both from the Relay Graduate School of Education, for a very special session this Friday, September 16th from 4:15-5:15 in Gutman 303 (exact room pending confirmation).

Relay Graduate School of Education (RGSE), is a new, independent graduate school with a ground-breaking master’s degree program designed specifically to respond to today’s demand for effective teachers. RGSE is the first Master’s Program ever to require its graduate students to demonstrate teaching proficiency and student achievement to earn a degree. Hostetter (Ed.M. ’07) and Lundy (M.P.P., ’11), Dean and Chief of Staff (respectively) at RGSE, will describe the process of building and launching RGSE, presenting the details of the academic, operational, and policy workings of the organization and will involve discussion participants in proposing and evaluating creative solutions to organizational challenges.
